Making instant settlement take two days on purpose
FAILED SUCCESSFULLY PUBLIC
We took a settlement that finishes in seconds and added a mandatory two-business-day delay, weekends and holidays included, to find out what the delay was ever for. Nobody complained. That was the result and it was not the one we wanted.
The delay was built honestly: a queue, a calendar with the real holidays in it, and a cut-off after which your instruction waits for the next business day like it is 1998. People were irritated for nine days. Then they were used to it. Then they started using it, entering instructions and cancelling them inside the window. The delay had stopped being a cost and become a feature nobody asked for, which is a worse finding than the delay being useless. That is why this one is filed FAILED SUCCESSFULLY. The centrifuge in the Tokenized Asset Laboratory still stops for one second every twenty. We left that in.
